German Foreign Ministry: “Climate financing is needed to reduce the impact of climate change”

“It seems that some people have come with a different purpose, that is, to reverse what we achieved in Dubai last year. We have heard many times from Saudi Arabia that what has already been decided is not final and cannot be included in the text” . But to mitigate the impact of climate change, climate finance is needed. “That is why, as a European delegation, we continue to intensively debate the texts.”

Oku.Az This was stated by the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Berbock, at a press conference held in Baku within the framework of COP29.

He said that they want to continue joint work between countries that jointly consider climate financing and mitigation:

“Yesterday afternoon and into the morning we continued meetings in Baku to create an intercontinental climate coalition. This clearly means that a new approach to climate finance is needed. Europe is a reliable partner and will continue to deliver on its commitments between 2005 and 2030 .

If we significantly expand the donor base for the new amount, we will only be able to finance climate challenges in the interests of the most affected countries. “This means there are new major issuers outside of development banks and bilateral measures that can pay for it.”
