In the context of the escalating conflict with the Lebanese movement Hezbollah, Israel has used its military and intelligence advantages to present a “veiled” ultimatum to Lebanon.
Oku.Az The US Wall Street Journal reports that it wrote about this.
The ultimatum is reported to read: “Either the Lebanese armed forces withdraw from Israel’s northern border or war begins.”
It was noted that in late September, when the battlefield in the Gaza Strip became static, Israel turned its attention to the border with Lebanon.
At the same time, the United States is insisting on a diplomatic solution to the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which could force the Lebanese movement to voluntarily withdraw its forces from the Israeli border and return to the lines agreed upon after the 2006 war.
The newspaper notes that Israeli officials stressed that these negotiations have reached a dead end and that there is no time to find any other solution than war.
