The Russian company Gazprom is ready to supply natural gas to both banks of the Dniester with delivery to the border with Ukraine starting January 1, 2025. This was confirmed today, November 22, by the acting chairman of the board of directors of the local company gas distribution company JSC Moldovagaz, Vadim Ceban.
He noted that he previously sent the corresponding letter to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Moldova. According to him, the relevant agreements were reached during the negotiations that took place on October 9 and 10 in St. Petersburg. This is despite the fact that the Moldovan party violated the previous contract by not properly auditing the long-standing debt and not paying the supplier the volume already received. During the meetings with Gazprom representatives, the issue of gas supply through Ukraine after the expiration of the transit contract with this country after December 31, 2024 was also discussed.
“The parties agreed that Gazprom will supply Moldovagaz, on the Russian-Ukrainian border, with natural gas for consumers on the right bank of Moldova, in the amount of 294 million cubic meters. m in the first quarter of 2025, and for consumers in the Transnistria region – 2 billion 005 million 776 thousand cubic meters. m. throughout 2025″, – Cheban clarified.
He added that in this regard it is now necessary to negotiate with Ukraine on the transportation of natural gas from January 1, 2025, since kyiv has already announced the blocking of the transit of Russian gas to Europe.
