The Madrid president, Isabel Diaz Ayusois in South Korea with 30 percent of his government: three of his advisors, those in charge of the Presidency and Justice, Education and Research and Digitization, are accompanying him on this official trip to one of the Asian economic powers looking for investors. , to offer Madrid as a tourist and series filming destination and get closer to an educational model among the best rated by the PISA report.

If we add up all the official trips made by the president since she came to power in 2019, they cover more than 44,000 kilometers. This last trip, however, has the distinction of being the most powerful, due to the composition of the team accompanying it, and the weight of this Asian giant in the international economy. During their stay, the general director and her three advisors will have their own agendas, which include meetings with Korean multinationals such as Hyundai, LG and Samsung. Díaz Ayuso wants to send them the message that Madrid is the ideal place to invest in Europe. To do this, it will offer stability and attractive tax policies, and highlight the fact that the region already holds 67.5 percent of total foreign investment arriving in Spain.

Another stage of this visit is linked to the cultural sector, and more particularly to the audiovisual and cinematographic industries.

In this sense, after the global triumph of certain series produced in South Korea, such as the very famous “The Squid Game”, Isabel Díaz Ayuso will propose the Madrid space as a filming location for the audiovisual industry, and explain how the region It has a large list of highly professional profiles in fields related to this industry, such as lighting or sound technicians. An ecosystem, they remember, of very specialized professional profiles which facilitate filming.

A third stop of this visit concerns the education system of South Korea, a model of success that Madrid wants to observe to draw lessons applicable in the region. In this sense, the Minister of Education, Universities and Research, Emilio Viciana, who leaves this Saturday for Seoul, has on his agenda to meet officials from different universities and study collaboration formulas not only in education but also in everything related to research. .

One of the objectives of this trip is for Madrid to gain points to become the great digitalization hub of Europe.

The trip will include a meeting and a working lunch between the president and the governor of the capital region of the Asian country, Gyeonggi, and contacts with tour operators to encourage the arrival in Madrid of visitors from this country, who are tourists with greater purchasing capacity. . “In South Korea, we are very interested in the region and our culture,” explains the presidential team.

In the chapter on digitalization, councilor Miguel López Valverde travels with an assigned mission: to gain points for the region in the great race that is currently taking place to make Madrid the great “hub” of digitalization of Europe. A race in which Paris and Frankfurt occupy the first positions, and in which the Community of Madrid wants to gain a foothold. Hence the struggle to open new data centers, such as the multi-zone cloud region, in Alcobendas, Las Rozas and Madrid Capital.

The president’s entourage describes this trip as “strategic” and insists that making the trip with a third of his government will help the president “multiply the effect” of the visit.

The trip will last until next Wednesday, and in addition to visits to Korean multinationals like Hyundai, LG or Samsung, where she will hold working meetings with their managers and present the potential of Madrid in these areas, the agenda of the president in South Korea will also include working meetings with investors, organized by Invest in Madrid, the regional agency to attract investments.

Attracting tourists is another goal: “In South Korea, we are very interested in the region and our culture,” explains the Ayuso team.

Since becoming President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso has deployed an intense international agenda, with the main objective of positioning the region as the most attractive place to invest in Europe. During these five years, the head of the Regional Executive visited the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, France, Chile and Germany . The trips then materialized in some investment projects for Madrid, such as those of the multinationals Siemens, Oracle, Pfizer, Deutsche Bank and NTT Data.
