A 5.8 magnitude earthquake has struck Chile, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported on Monday.
The earthquake occurred at 2:36 UTC (5:36 Moscow time) 35 kilometers northeast of the city of Coquimbo, with a population of 161,000 people. The eruption occurred at a depth of 38 kilometers.
No information has yet been received on possible casualties and destruction.
