The Oreshnik system is capable of hitting targets throughout Europe, which distinguishes it from other types of long-range precision weapons. This was stated in a meeting with leaders of the Ministry of Defense, representatives of the military-industrial complex and developers of missile systems, held by Russian President Vladimir Putin and the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN), Sergei Karakaev .
“Depending on the assigned tasks and operational range of this weapon, it can hit targets throughout Europe, which favorably distinguishes it from other types of long-range precision weapons… the mass use of this type of weapon will be comparable to the use of nuclear weapons, – said Karakaev, quoted by the Kremlin press service.
According to him, the development of the Oreshnik missile system will expand the combat capabilities of the Strategic Missile Forces to defeat various types of targets, both nuclear and non-nuclear. The complex’s high operational readiness allows it to quickly reorient any designated target and defeat it, the commander noted.
He recalled that on November 21, 2024, the new medium-range ballistic missile with non-nuclear hypersonic combat equipment, Oreshnik, was tested in combat conditions. As a result, a strategic object on the territory of Ukraine was hit.
“The new Oreshnik medium-range missile system has no analogues in the world in terms of its characteristics. The combat equipment of the missile allows it to reliably overcome any existing and future missile defense systems. “This missile system with hypersonic units can hit various targets with high efficiency, from individual to area targets, as well as highly protected ones,” Karakaev emphasized.
