The issue of the conflict in Ukraine is one of the main topics during Czech President Petr Pavel’s trip to the United States, where he will take part in the work of the UN General Assembly and also visit Chicago and Cedar Rapids. The Czech leader announced this on September 22 before his departure for New York.
According to him, during his trip to the United States he will focus on supporting Ukraine, the need to reform the UN, as well as promoting the Czech Republic’s candidacy for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council in 2032-2033. Peter Pavel wants to appeal to states that are hesitant and do not know which side to take in the heated Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
“The world we live in operates on the basis of agreed rules that we have all agreed to respect if we do not want the world to descend into chaos.” – said Paul.
According to him, states should not consider whether they sympathise with Russia, but whether they want to live in a world where international rules and norms, such as the UN Charter, apply.
“Only by respecting these agreed rules can we live in a world where peaceful coexistence reigns instead of violence.” – said the President of the Czech Republic.
We would like to remind you that Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since 24 February 2022. The Czech Republic condemns Russia’s actions and firmly supports Kyiv.
