The territorial barons of the PP meet today in Madrid with the president of the party, Alberto Nuñez Feijoofrom 12:00, in a new meeting to unite positions on regional financing, while the series of visits to Moncloa by the presidents of the communities has already begun and only four days before the vote in the Congress of Deputies on the spending ceiling (which will take place this Thursday).
They had already met a fortnight before – at least those who are heads of government, for the most part – when, on September 6, Feijóo summoned them to a summit organized at the Madrid palace of the Dukes of Pastrana.
There they signed a document in which they committed to not to negotiate bilateral regional financing with Pedro Sánchezeven though they went to Moncloa – as did the Galician and Andalusian Alfonso Rueda and Juanma Moreno on Friday – to raise their demands and ask to be able to debate them jointly at the next Conference of Presidents to be held in Cantabria.
The format for this Monday will be the National Executive Committeea party body with more than fifty members, whose last convocation took place on June 11, two days after the European elections in which the PP managed to be the most voted list in Spain.
The PP barons clearly express their opposition to the agreement reached by the PSC and the ERC so that Catalonia can have a single financing, which they call “separatist quota” and compare it to the Basque concert and the Navarrese agreement, which do not have historical roots and constitutional provisions.
The National Executive Committee of the PP is meeting this Monday in Madrid on the occasion of the inauguration of Campus Faes 2024, the annual forum of the foundation led by the former president of the party José María Aznar, which will begin at 10:30 a.m.
