A repeat offender, with 60 exams to his credit, Spanish and 40 years old, tried to kill four police officers (two of them on leave) and destroyed 15 cars, including patrol cars and individuals, during a very dangerous chase through the south of Madrid, specifically through Usera and Villaverde. The detainee, Juan Guisado Carreras, has three different identities.
The incident occurred at 10:30 pm on Sunday 15 September and lasted fifteen frantic minutes. The suspect was driving a Seat Ibiza stolen in Villa de Vallecas two days before, with which he had committed various crimes until that very morning.
The first patrol of the National Police met him on Affecto and Conciliación streets, where Juan was, and so they tried to block his path. The road is narrow and the officer who was the co-driver got out to stop him. But the criminal continued to move forward, then accelerated in reverse and began to be chased by the camouflaged patrol car and the officer on foot. The Seat Ibiza then collided with several parked vehicles.
The individual then took Calle de la Conciliación in the opposite direction and, reversing, arrived at Avenida de Orovilla. When he tried to go in the normal direction, he was blocked by the officers who were in the unmarked car. He reversed again and went in the opposite direction, passing through Orovilla.
A policeman tried to approach him from behind, from the left, to open the door for Juan, but he accelerated and hit another car parked at a roundabout. The criminal was stuck, with no way to continue escaping, but he didn’t think twice: he hit another car and, finding himself stuck, reversed again and headed towards one of the officers with the clear intention of taking him in front of him. The policeman was stuck between a valley and another parked car. Seeing that he was going to kill him, he took out his gun and fired four times in the air.
But Juan did not give up and accelerated at full speed to run over the officer, who escaped death by throwing himself to the side, after which he shot twice at the left rear wheel of the stolen Seat Ibiza. The criminal then made a big swerve and ran over the policeman from behind, who fired two more shots, hitting the window and the rear door of the seat, because at that moment the suspect had thrown him against the road. The officer was seriously injured.
The fugitive made a 180-degree turn and left the scene, disregarding the number of drivers and police officers present. Another officer got into the unmarked car after losing his phone and extendable baton, and continued the chase toward Unanimidad Street and Andalucía Avenue.
Damage to another patrol car
There were already several patrol cars with sirens and lights on, chasing the criminal, who was running red lights and even with his seat lights off.
A patrol from Usera headed towards him towards the Andalusian motorway (A-4). To reduce the speed at which Juan was driving, he reduced his own speed, but he crashed into the sign on the right side, without caring if he cost the lives of those two other officials.
He jumped another red light at the intersection with Gran Vía de Villaverse, accelerated again towards San Dalmacio and took San Norberto, towards Villaverde Alto. He crashed into a roundabout on Avenida Real de Pinto and San Norberto with a Mercedes, but the guy did not give up and accelerated again, until he crashed again on the driver’s side and ended up with only two wheels in contact with the road. The other two were on the Mercedes parked at the roundabout.
But the chase continued through the surrounding streets and, in Plaza Ágatat, she was hit by a Ford Focus and got lost in Juan Peñalver Street. A municipal police patrol found the Seat Ibiza speeding in the area. Another sign interrupted her by braking suddenly in Villalonso Street and she was hit by the individual, who continued to flee through Paseo de los Ferroviarios, Verde Viento, Camborio and de las Islas Streets. And he hit another Usera patrol car in the parking lot of the latter road.
Punches and kicks
They entered Anoeta Street, which, as it had no exit, caused Juan to brake suddenly and reverse to continue fleeing, taking another police car. Then, the subject got out of the seat and began to flee on foot, until he was subdued and handcuffed, but not before punching several times in the nose and face of two officers who had chained him. He kicked another officer in the right hand.
He was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of attempted homicide, assault on a law enforcement officer, injuries, damages, reckless driving and lack of a driving license and disobedience. The Violent Crimes Group (DEVI) of the Scientific Brigade of the Madrid Police went to the scene.
The result of the search was damage to five private cars and 10 police cars, as well as the aforementioned injured police officers, who were taken by Samur to the hospital, as well as a citizen who was in his car and was the victim of the arrest. the man’s uncontrolled driving.
