Türkiye is actively exploring various areas in Afghanistan, including the cultural sector. In Herat, after restoration carried out at the expense of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), a public library was opened, TOLOnews reports.

The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism donated 2,000 books in Turkish to this library.

Head of the Department of Information and Culture in Herat Ahmadullah Muttaqi He said: “TIKA not only restored this library, but also donated a thousand books.”

Türkiye is expected to donate thousands more books to the Mazar-i-Sharif library.

Mohammad Nuri Parmaksyzrepresentative of a Turkish cultural organization, explained:

“The books we donated today include books on religion, philosophy, literature, psychology, children’s literature and other areas. This donation amounts to a total of 2,000 books.”

The director of the Herat library, Mustafa Haqqani, expressed his gratitude to “Türkiye, our friendly country.”

The Herat Public Library is one of the oldest in the country. According to the Department of Information and Culture of Herat, it contains more than 35,000 books. Dozens of Afghans visit it daily “to read and carry out scientific work.”
