During an operation by law enforcement officers in Istanbul, Turkey, an armed confrontation with a criminal took place. As a result of the incident, one police officer was killed and three people were injured.

The incident reportedly took place during the operation to arrest the person who was detained by the Central Emirate Police from Dudullu of Umraniya district on the charge of motorcycle theft and later escaped.
According to the information, 19-year-old YEÇ, who was previously arrested 26 times for various crimes, took a police officer’s gun in the Ihlamurguyu neighborhood and fired at those around him. A female police officer, Sheyda Yilmaz, 27, responded.
During the incident, Sh. Yilmaz and another police officer were injured, as well as the suspect himself and his mother, PG, 43, who were at the scene. They were taken to hospital. Sh. Yilmaz’s life could not be saved.
The statement said a criminal case had been opened against the suspect on charges of “intentional homicide” and “intentional serious harm to health.”
