The Israeli army attacked the Khaled ben al Walid Schoollocated in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the centre of Gaza Stripin which it is already the Third attack on an educational center in the Palestinian enclave of the last 72 hours.
Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmud Basal confirmed that at least three people (a father, a mother and their daughter) died in the bombing. Basal also announced the death of five other people in an Israeli attack on a house in Deir al Balah, in the central Gaza Strip. The dead, according to the spokesman, were a mother and her four children.
Yesterday, the Israeli army bombed a school housing displaced people in the Shati refugee camp, near northern Gaza City, killing at least seven people, according to Gazan medical sources. And on Saturday, in a separate attack on a school compound in the Gazan capital, 22 people were killed, including 13 children and six women.
As always when tackling this type of center, Israel has said in both cases that a group of militiamen from the Islamist group Hamas was inside.and said it had taken precautions to prevent civilians from being harmed in the attacks. More than 41,400 people have been killed and 95,800 injured in the devastated Palestinian enclave since the war began more than 11 months ago, according to the latest figures from the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. Officials also estimate that the bodies of some 10,000 missing people remain buried under the rubble.
