Security forces neutralized a man who threatened to detonate a grenade in a cafe in the Frunzensky district of St. Petersburg. This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk.
“Police in the Frunzensky district of St. Petersburg received a call from a man about a threat of an explosion in a cafe.” — he wrote on his Telegram channel.
The caller claimed he was holding a live grenade with a broken pin in his hand. The senior police sergeant was the first to arrive at the scene. Georgy Isakov and police officer Mikhail Smirnov.
“They immediately assessed the situation and decided to evacuate the visitors. The police then approached the man and, being distracted, caught his hand that was holding a dangerous object. Police officers then convinced the attacker to hand over the explosive object to the commander of a separate battalion of the PPSP of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Frunzensky district, police lieutenant colonel. Alexander Pijotskywho placed him under a special device”, – said the Wolf.
Explosives experts confirmed that the detainee had an F-1 hand grenade in his hands.
Security forces detained the man, who turned out to be a 43-year-old man who lived in the same building where the cafe was located.
A criminal case has been initiated under art. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism). The grenade has been sent for examination, according to the results of which another criminal case will be initiated, under art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal trafficking in weapons and ammunition).
