The Minister of Culture, Jose Lopez Camposreported that the Franco family offered the Xunta a “formula of agreement” of collaboration for the opening to the public of Casa Cornide in La Coruña – to which they are obliged because it is an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) -, after the Galician Government opened a sanction file of 3,000 euros due to this non-compliance.

In response to questions from the A Coruña press, the city councilor agreed that an administrative procedure is opened by which the family is invited to open the property at fixed times, but, “without obtaining results”, disciplinary procedure in progress, before which the Franco presented an appeal to “clarify certain aspects” of the resolution, as reported EuropaPress.

Explain that they open the “possibility” of a “collaboration formula” in the opening system, a question to which administration technicians are analyzing to answer, emphasizing that “it is the owners who must establish minimum opening hours”.

It specifies that the current file “will be finalized” and that, “if the family does not respect its obligation”, the Xunta “will sanction” the owners “until an ordinary and normal opening takes place, as provided for legislation”. He emphasizes that “owners have a legal responsibility: that of facilitating openings at certain times”.

In the meantime, the Herculean municipality has, in turn, initiated procedures to recover the building, whose property is currently held by the dictator’s family, for municipal heritage.
