39 members of the United States Congress, representing the two main political parties, Republican and Democratic, sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the Director of National Intelligence of the United States. In the letter, they expressed concern about Türkiye’s close relationship with the Hamas terrorist group.

This was reported by the Ynet news portal.

The congressmen demanded a closed-door briefing to determine to what extent Turkey supports Hamas terrorists and what measures the United States or NATO could take if this information is confirmed.

As is known, Türkiye, which does not recognize Hamas as a terrorist group, periodically criticizes Israel for its military actions in Gaza and Lebanon. However, several militant leaders occasionally visit Türkiye, causing concern in Israel and some Western countries.

Previously, Kursor wrote that a Turkish diplomatic source denied reports that the Hamas office had moved to Türkiye and called this information incorrect. He said Hamas members visit Türkiye from time to time, but accusations that its leadership office is moving to that country are unfounded.

Furthermore, Cursor has already reported that Turkey’s granting of asylum to Hamas terrorist leaders, including their relatives, places the country in a difficult position on the world stage, provoking concern and criticism from other states.

Türkiye maintained strong ties with the militants, which gave him the opportunity to actively participate in the negotiation processes for the return of the hostages.
