The arrested person used violence and intimidation against his victims, to whom it was possible to return part of the stolen items.
The National Police arrested a 37-year-old man in Valencia who allegedly took advantage of his status as geroculturist in different centers or residences elderly people to steal jewelry from vulnerable people who use these spaces.
On some occasions, he even resorted to violence and intimidation against his victims. In addition, agents found 22 pieces of jewelry, 13 of which were returned to their respective owners.
The investigation began when one of the victims stated that an employee of the center where she was staying had entered her room on two occasions. Seeking the night and believing it was sleeping, had tried to remove the necklace he was wearing. When she realized this, she tried to raise the only movable arm she had, and the attacker then physically attacked her, managing to seize a ring she was wearing.
Therefore, officers began to carry out appropriate investigations to clarify the facts, and were then able to verify that there were more victims. They identified in two gold markets 22 jewels stolen, of which thirteen were able to be recovered, while the other nine had already been melted down.
Investigations carried out by agents of the judicial police group of the maritime district police station led to the arrest of the author, who is accused of the crimes of theft with violence and intimidation and aggravated theft.
The arrested person, with a criminal record for similar events, was taken to court and banned from working in geriatric centers and retirement homes throughout the Valencian Community.
