After the discovery of the sculpture, Velázquez said he felt lucky to experience this event on a day “very important for our city, for our Holy Week and for our faith” and recognized that we are “heirs and responsible of the continuation of this event”. witness that “He carries the images through the streets of Toledo”.

This is what he declared after affirming that this presentation brings together spirituality and culture, with the aim of making the city the European capital of culture in 2031. The mayor further recalled that Holy Week is “without no doubt”, a “week without a place”. very important element to attract quality tourism to the city.

In 2024, which marks the tenth anniversary of the proclamation of Holy Week as Festival of International Tourist Interest, Velázquez congratulated the Brotherhood of Christ of Humility for the work it is doing, seeking excellence, to “give a leap in quality to our Holy Week and leave a very positive mark in the city.”

Finally, the mayor hopes that, under this invocation of hope, the Virgin will take care of the inhabitants of Toledo “so that we may be a great fraternity”.

The sculpture, 1.57 cm high, in polychrome cedar, is the work of the Sevillian imager. Dario Fernandez, also the author of the image of the Christ of Humility, who recognized that with this Virgin of Hope “he represents what we have dreamed of for many years”. In addition, he expressed his satisfaction and enthusiasm at the idea of ​​returning to Toledo, a city with which he maintains an emotional connection and to which he adds a new work for “a historic city.”
