5 Interesting Facts About BTS That ARMY Must Know

BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) is a boyband from South Korea that has recently been widely discussed in various parts of the world. This boyband was formed on June 13, 2013, and this year is the 10th year of the boyband. BTS has 7 members under the auspices of Bighit Entertainment. BTS has a large and loyal fandom, commonly called ARMY.

1. BTS comes from an almost bankrupt agency

Who would have thought that the biggest boyband in the world used to come from an almost bankrupt agency? Bighit Entertainment used to be a small and poor agency in South Korea, so poor that BTS, which has 7 members, had to live in 1 small dorm room. However, BTS’s success was able to transform this small agency into an agency that could surpass the big 3 agencies in South Korea.

2. The only Korean artist who was able to break into the GRAMMY Awards

Grammy Awards are one of the most prestigious music awards in the United States. BTS is the only Korean singer to be nominated at the Grammy Awards for 3 consecutive years. Unfortunately, the boy group has not been able to become a winner at the event. But isn’t that a proud achievement for Asian artists?

3. BTS writes and produces their songs

Maybe most musicians in South Korea have their songs written and produced by the agency. However, most of BTS’s songs are written and produced by BTS members themselves. Even all BTS members have the credibility to make songs. That’s why most BTS songs are very relatable to someone’s life because the songs are written based on the stories of the members. BTS not only produces their songs, but they also produce songs from other musicians. One of the songs produced by BTS members is That That – PSY Prod. & Ft. Suga BTS.

4. The first boyband to have the opportunity to speak at the UN session

BTS as the representative of South Korea to attend the 76th UN General Assembly. On September 13, 2021, BTS launched a campaign that invited their fans to share their stories that have kept them going until now through the hashtags #YouthToday and #YourStory. At its peak, on September 20, 2021, BTS had the opportunity to give speeches in turns and perform the song Permission to Dance at the UNGA. With BTS’s speech, it is hoped that the younger generation will care more about international issues.

5. Become the holder of the most designs in KPOP history

Daesang is the highest award category at a music event in South Korea. BTS has managed to collect 73 Daesangs throughout their 9-year career, not including the Daesang of Daesang (platinum MAMA award). BTS is the only one and the first to get it in the history of the South Korean music industry.
