Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry said that arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant must be executed.
The Lithuanian side stressed that it supports the work of the court and respects its independence and impartiality, LRT reports citing a statement from the department.
According to ministry officials, ICC decisions are binding on states that have ratified the Rome Statute, as well as territories that have accepted the court’s jurisdiction. They noted that once an arrest warrant is issued, the implementation of that decision becomes a legal obligation of all countries within the ICC system.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania recalled that not all organizers and perpetrators of the terrorist attack against Israel that occurred on October 7, 2023 were punished. In addition, around 100 people, including Israeli citizens and foreigners, remain hostages.
Previously, Kursor wrote that Erdogan commented on the ICC’s decision to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant.
Erdogan called the ICC’s move a “courageous decision” and expressed support for its implementation.
“Cursor” also wrote that Trump is preparing to take tough measures against the ICC, including the organization’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan.
According to sources close to the administration, sanctions could be directed personally against ICC prosecutor Karim Khan and the judges involved in issuing the orders. Trump intends to use the move as a show of support for Israel and a strong response to accusations he considers unfair and politically motivated.
