Trump assassination suspect confessed months before attack

Ryan Wesley Root, accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump on a golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on September 15, wrote a note several months ago in which he claimed he intended to kill the former president. This was announced today by the US Department of Justice, writes The New York Post.

Ryan Wesley Root, 58, allegedly left a note in a box at an unidentified person’s home several months before the failed attempt, according to the statement. The note allegedly said he intended to kill Trump.

“It was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I failed you. I did the best I could and showed all the intelligence I could gather. Now you have to finish the job; and I will offer $150,000 to whoever can do the job.” – says the letter.

“Everyone around the world, from the youngest to the oldest, knows that Trump is unfit to be president of the United States,” the note said.

The handwritten letter was only discovered after a person opened the box and alerted authorities after Root was arrested, prosecutors said.

The box also reportedly contained “ammunition, a metal pipe, various construction materials, tools, four telephones” and numerous other letters.
