This Saturday, Rodri Hernández received a mass bath before the crash between Manchester City and Tottenham. The Spanish midfielder had a light show, music, applause from the standsimages on the video scoreboards and even fire on the pitch of the Etihad Stadium to celebrate his Ballon d’Or.
The Spanish champion at the last European Cup benefited from City’s return from Pep Guardiola newly renewed to present the trophy to the fans of the “citizens”. Wearing a black coat and without crutches, Rodri was escorted by an array of lights to the center of the Etihad pitch.
It was then that he received the prestigious award and raised it to the skies of Manchester, accompanied by a mural depicting “Rodri, Ballon d’Or 2024” on the ground and some lit letters behind him with his name.

Rodri also dared to dance to perform the forbidden steps. After that, with City and Tottenham on the pitch, his companions made him a corridor internationally in Spain.
It was October 28 when Madrid midfielder, one of the pillars of Guardiola’s teamwon the Ballon d’Or, the second in history for a Spanish player, after Luis Suárez Miramontes in 1960. Currently, Rodri is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury this will keep him out all season. However, the Spaniard’s wish is to return before the Club World Cup which takes place between June and July.
