The Pilar festivities program for 2024 finally recovers a tradition that should never have been eliminated: the Announcement of bullfighting festivities which are celebrated for ten days in the bullring of Zaragoza, after eight years of exclusion.
Throughout these festivities, the Misericordia bullring will be full of people. This square is one of the few in Spain that celebrates festivities throughout the day, from the morning with the traditional release of the heifers, until eight o’clock, thanks to the tenacity of the bullring entrepreneur, Carlos ZunigaIn total, there will be more than twenty celebrations.

Popular festivals return to the streets
Also this September, again on the proposal of Vox, the City Council of Zaragoza ended another ban inherited from the communists that same year 2016. We are referring to the celebration of popular festivals in the neighborhoods of Zaragoza, in force for eight long years in the city.
In this way, what is indicated in the Autonomous regulation (updated in May 2023), which establishes the promotion of Aragonese tradition, public safety and animal welfare in this type of events. This includes the release of bullfighting cattle, rope bull, round bull, ensogado, embolado or engamellado.
