Córdoba CF saves a point it knows little about against Real Zaragoza (2-2)

Córdoba could only settle for a draw against Real Zaragoza at El Arcángel. Distribution of points which is not sufficient for the green and white team. They had options to take the three points just like the handball team thanks to its enormous punch. The one that Iván Ania’s team lacked in key moments. There was no shortage of defensive errors, which are a recurring element in every Córdoba match.

Iván Ania demonstrated his principles by starting Adri Vázquez, who played at right-back. Bet again through career as he already did with Álex López in Albacete. He also repeated with his central defender pair (Marvel and Lapeña) and the midfield pair (Théo Zidane – Isma Ruiz). True to his style, the Asturian coach will follow the match from the stands, since he has been suspended for two matches.

The first dangerous arrival came from Cordoba. A cross (with a fake shot on goal from Jacobo which was narrowly missed by a green and white finalist. Antonio Casas also attempted it with an acrobatic finishwith his back turned, taking advantage of the exit of the rival goalkeeper. The ball went just past the post. Many arrivals from Córdoba, who dominated the first minutes of the match. This finish was missing in the last meters.

Blanquiverdo dominated the match, but once again the ghosts of Cádiz appeared: the referee and the defensive errors. First of all, the referee signaled a yellow to Marvel, who had to correct Lapeña (he will miss the duel with Almería because it is his fifth yellow). Then came the visitors’ goal. Francho took advantage of an error by Isma Ruiz, who did not control a pass to Carlos Marín well and Zaragoza did not forgive (1-0, 15th minute). The problems didn’t stop for the green and white team.

A new controversial action. The referee signaled a foul at the edge of the area with a yellow card for Adri Vázquez. However, there was a previous Zaragoza hand that he did not see and I had to go to the VAR. Finally, he received the yellow card from the secondary side and gave the ball to Córdoba. A refereeing chaos that had knocked Córdoba out of the game. It seemed to be the same scenario as the matches this season, where an isolated action already determined the future defeat. However, the feelings in the first half were not so alarming. The team responded.

He continued to besiege the rival goal. Jacobo tried first, with a powerful shot that the goalkeeper cleared. He rotated with Ander Yoldi in the midfielder and left winger positions. Iván Ania’s team had several chances to equalize, but their lack of success was already worrying. In all possible shapes and colors. And yet, the clearest was for Zaragoza with a shot on Tasende’s crossbar.

Córdoba finally found the goal thanks to a superb play on the right led by young Adrián Vázquez, who managed to pass through the center for Théo Zidane to beat the keeper and equalize. (1-1, minutes 30). The team was encouraged by Carracedo who tried his luck with a powerful shot caught by the goalkeeper. Until the break, Córdoba tried and did not give in to the quality of the Zaragoza team. However, the tables ruled at El Arcángel

Zaragoza pressed the accelerator a little more in the second half and showed some fangs against Carlos Marín. Hand in hand with Bazdar in front of the green and white goalkeeper who released a miraculous hand to avoid the visitors’ second. He couldn’t do anything with Luna’s goal, which meant the competent team was once again ahead on the scoreboard. (1-2, minutes 56). Córdoba was quick to respond with Jacobo’s goal after a Carracedo cross (2-2, minutes 57). A more than equal match at El Arcángel with both teams well established. Now it was time to work on defense.

The coaching staff began to move the green and white bench. The first to retire was Théo Zidane after his second goal as a Cordoba player. In addition, he received a standing ovation from El Arcángel and gave way to Álex Sala. The midfielder also distinguished himself in his specialty: seeing another yellow card when the ball is not in play. Córdoba had chances until the end. Lapeña almost saw the goal with a header cleared by the goalkeeper. Jacobo found the rebound, but without success. To give the wings more air, Adilson came on in place of a grayer and upset Carracedo with the substitution.

For its part, Zaragoza generated danger every time it reached the rival area. He had another crossbar that almost tilted the game in his favor. The blood ultimately did not reach the river. The Córdoba bench changed rooms, with Obolskii and Kuki Zalazar as the offensive duo. It didn’t work too well. Córdoba tried to push forward although it was difficult, with Álex Sala preparing the leg. But everything at the barrier. Until the end, fear reigned. Lapeña had to stop a key counter-attack as Córdoba dared to shoot from the front. A draw that does not matter for the interests of Córdoba, who could have won easily, but who missed two points that forced him to score in his two consecutive outings.
