A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan in the Ryukyu Islands region, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported on September 24.
The earthquake occurred at 2:14 a.m. Moscow time at a depth of 10 km. A tsunami warning has been issued for the Ogasawara and Izu archipelagos, and waves of up to 1 metre high are expected.
