Zelensky noted that it is extremely important for Putin to demonstrate control over a situation that he does not actually control. According to him, the Russian leader considers it a priority to regain control over the Kursk region, and massive strikes with new missiles serve to achieve this goal.
The President of Ukraine emphasized that the successful actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region revealed Russia’s inability to protect its own territories. Zelensky added that the Kremlin has focused all its resources on trying to occupy Ukrainian lands, which has worsened the situation in Donbass, where Ukraine is short of troops.
According to Zelensky, Putin seeks to fulfill two key tasks: to expel the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Kursk direction and occupy the entire Donbass. These goals, according to the Ukrainian leader, determine the tactics of the Russian troops. However, he noted that the Ukrainian army continues to defend the Homeland, despite difficult conditions and the slow delivery of military assistance.
The President also stated that Russia was suffering significant losses in the direction of Kursk. One of the interceptions mentioned by Zelensky indicates that Putin is transmitting personal instructions through the command, emphasizing that the success of the so-called “special military operation” depends precisely on the operation in the Kursk region. According to Zelensky, the Russian army has never experienced such heavy losses.
