New Zealand introduced another package of sanctions against Belarus and Russia

New Zealand is introducing sanctions against individuals and organisations from Russia and Belarus, the country’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters announced.

“This latest round of sanctions targets those involved in Russia’s illegal seizure of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Ukraine, the Russian military-industrial complex, and Belarusian individuals and organizations that provide support,” he said.

The updated sanctions list maintained by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs includes 1,752 individuals and legal entities. This also includes vehicles. A new group of 5 individuals and 6 legal entities was added on 20 September; the sanctions were officially announced four days later.

Let us remind you that Belarus and Russia are under unprecedented sanctions from Western countries. The pressure on Minsk and Moscow increased after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. New Zealand tightened sanctions for the last time in mid-July. Restrictions were then introduced against 7 individuals and 12 legal entities.
