Russian Foreign Ministry vowed to react harshly to Japan’s anti-Russian measures

Russia is forced to continue its harsh reaction to Japan’s anti-Russian measures. This was stated on November 24 by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Andrei Rudenko.

“Unfortunately, the Japanese government’s reaction to the president’s words demonstrated once again Japan’s lack of intention to change anything in a positive direction. Under such conditions, we will be forced to continue reacting harshly to anti-Russian measures, guided only by our own national interests.” – he highlighted in conversation with TASS.

However, Rudenko added that Russia is always ready to normalize relations and resume mutually beneficial cooperation, subject to Tokyo’s “real and practical renunciation of its hostile policy.”

During a speech at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club on November 7, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin dedicated significant space to Japan and bilateral relations. He noted that Moscow is prepared for the return of Japanese companies and Tokyo should establish new diplomatic relations with its neighboring country.

In response, the Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya He called the statement “somewhat positive.” At the same time, he stated that the country will continue to impose sanctions against Russia as long as the situation in Ukraine continues, Izvestia recalls.
