Hamas confirms death of one of its commanders in bombings in southern Lebanon

The Islamist group Hamas has mourned the death of its commander in southern Lebanon, Mahmoud al-Naderalso known as “Abu Saleh”, in one of the bomb attacks launched by Israel against its northern neighbor on Monday, during which nearly 500 people died.

“With the utmost pride, dignity and confidence in the imminent victory of Allah, the Al Qasam Brigades exalt before our people and the masses of our Arab and Islamic nation the martyrdom of one of their valiant knights: the field leader Hussein Mahmoud al Nader,” the Islamists said in a statement. “By exalting the martyrdom of our heroic fighter, we commit ourselves before Allah, our people and our nation to “continue the path of resistance”add the text.

Israeli bombings in eastern and southern Lebanon on Monday killed at least 492 people, including 35 children and 58 womenand injured more than 1,600 people, in addition to forcing thousands of families to leave their home.

The Israeli army said it had attacked a Hezbollah’s “terrorist cell” and its launchers with which they had fired during the night on the region of HaAmakim, in the north of Israel. In addition, they attacked with artillery and tanks other targets in the Ayta ash Shab and Ramyeh region in southern Lebanon.

The air campaign in the neighboring country has been dubbed “Operation Northern Arrows” by the military. Only on Monday did Israel attack some 1,600 “targets” including launchers, command posts and infrastructure in southern Lebanon and the eastern Bekaa Valley, where it caused widespread chaos among the civilian population.

In Israel, the army assured that on Monday detected more than 200 rockets, which has caused sirens to sound in the north of the country and as far south as in some settlements in the occupied West Bank, near Tel Aviv, without causing any casualties. In recent hours, Hezbollah has launched about thirty rockets, most of them intercepted, against the Krayot region, north of Haifa, but also against the HaAmakim region, southeast of that city.

Furthermore, according to military sources, other two rockets launched This morning, heading towards the northern city of Nahariya, they fell into the sea, without causing damage or injuries. Due to the growing insecurity, more schools in the north of the country – in the communities of Megiddo, Yokneam Illit, Daliyat al Karmel and Isfiya – will remain closed, as will those in the Haifa district all the way to the northern border.
