The Texas administration has offered the future Donald Trump administration 570 hectares of land to build a detention center for illegal immigrants. Reuters reports this.
Trump spoke this week of plans to declare a national border security emergency and use the military to mass deport illegal immigrants when he takes office in January. In response, the Texas Land Commissioner Buckingham Dawn confirmed that the state is offering Trump more than 570 hectares of land along the southern border of the United States to help the new administration carry out its deportation plans.
“I am offering this site to the incoming Trump administration to build a facility to conduct the largest operation in our nation’s history to deport, process, detain and coordinate violent criminals.” – said Buckingham.
The proposed land is a ranch in Starr County along the border of the Rio Grande. The site has no paved roads and is located in a county with a public hospital and limited local resources.
“We think it’s actually very well located. The terrain there is very flat. “So if it would be helpful, I would like to work with the federal government.” – concluded Buckingham.
