Masoud Pazeshkian surprised American journalists in New York by taking a clear stand against war. “What we can resolve through dialogue, let us not resolve with missiles and weapons,” the president said.
In a startling revelation, Iranian opposition news outlet Iran International released footage of Iranian President Masoud Pazeshkian telling his American interlocutors that Iran was ready to lay down its arms if Israel did the same. “We are ready to lay down all our weapons if Israel does the same and an international organization comes to guarantee security in the region,” the president said in the recording. “We do not need these weapons. We know how to take care of our own security,” he added.
In response to another question about Iranian arms supplies to the Russian Federation, Pazeshkian said: “Why should we kill each other instead of talking?”
He also made a veiled comment on the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, saying: “A terrorist is a terrorist, whether Arab, Persian or Jewish. Whether Israel, America or Iran, if you kill, you are a terrorist.”
Addressing the media representatives present, Pazeshkian concluded: “This is our main point, you can report it as you wish. Let us not discuss what we can resolve through dialogue, let us not resolve it with missiles and weapons.”
