Two soldiers from the Military Emergency Unit (UME) were trapped this Sunday after the collapse of part of a school in the Valencian town of Masanasa. Troops were carrying out inspection work on the building when the partial collapse of the structure occurred, which could be linked to damage caused by recent rains in the area.
The event occurred while the military was inspecting the state of the educational center, a task that is part of the UME’s actions in the areas affected by DANA. Emergency teams are currently working to rescue the two soldiers trapped in the rubble.
The ravages of DANA continue to be very present in the Valencian Community. Eight days ago, another building, also in Masanasa, was evacuated due to structural damage to the ground. And hundreds of buildings are still being monitored for any risk of collapse due to flood damage.
