The popular jury found the four men accused of the murder of Samuel Luiz guilty, including one as an accomplice, and found the only woman in the trial not guilty, in a case in which two minors had already been convicted of murder.
The first section of the Provincial Court of A Coruña welcomed the reading of the verdict of the trial against five adults in the case of the death of Samuel Luiz on July 3, 2021, in which the charges required sentences between 22 and 27 years. of prison for murder with treason and cruelty – the latter dismissed by the jury, as well as for homophobia, which is also not proven.
For the popular jury, the authors are Diego Montaña, Alejandro Freire “Yumba” and Kaio Amaral Silva, while Alejandro Míguez was an accomplice of the group; Catherine Silva, unanimously, excludes it from acting in unity of action, even if she associates it with the impossibility of rendering the defense.
In the case of the first three, Diego MM is considered the initiator of the attack; Alejandro FG was accused of grabbing him by the neck and back, and Kaio ASC was attributed, according to some witnesses, to the person who carried his leg to throw a kick. The three were already in prison.
As an accomplice, and by seven votes, Alejandro MR, who, according to some witnesses, was at the heart of the attack without confirming whether he struck. Like Catherine SB, he was free with an obligation to appear. She was unanimously declared not guilty either as a co-perpetrator or as an accomplice.
In the case of Montaña and Freire, the jury unanimously considered them co-perpetrators of the crime of murder with malice and not cruelty, and in the case of Amaral, by a majority of seven votes. The latter was also unanimously found guilty of stealing from the victim.
