The Government Council of the Community of Madrid today approved the draft general budget law for 2025, which marks a new historic record by touching the 30 billion euros. Thus, investments that strengthen the quality of its public services in the areas of health, education, housing, transport and social policies will be increased.
The budget dedicated to Health also marks a historic record reaching 10,459 million euros, which represents 294 million (2.9%) more than the previous year. This increase aims to improve healthcare in hospitals and health centers, responding to the various current challenges in the region. Among the the key element is investment in infrastructurelike the hospital expansion and health centers in high-demand areas, in addition to a significant commitment to medical technology and digitalization of services.
In this sense, it should be noted that these stories are faithful to the intention of the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who declared during her inauguration in 2020 that she would strengthen the health system of Madrid and this has been the case since Next year’s accounts represent an increase of 42% in this chapter.
Other notable budget items are: education with an increase of 239.5 million; Housing, transport and infrastructure (+197.1) 0 Family, youth and social affairs (+84.5). A budget for the future
In addition to Healthbudgets for 2025 allocate significant funds to Educationwith a position that envisages the construction of new educational centers and the strengthening of professional training programs. In the area of housing, the Community plans to expand its offer of social housing and affordable rentals, one of the problems most highlighted by Madrid residents.
For its part, the Environment area will also benefit from an increase in its allocation, with projects ranging from waste management to investment in renewable energies and the protection of natural spaces. In this sense, the Community is committed to reducing its CO₂ emissions and promoting more ecological transport.
Challenges for 2025
With the new budget, the challenge of the Community of Madrid is to transform these resources into tangible improvements for citizens, such as the 411.5 million project to launch the Healthcare Contracting Agency which will centralize the purchase of equipment, technology and services and the new digital health card. Experts emphasize that one of the big challenges is the effective management of funds, ensuring that every euro allocated to health and other strategic sectors translates into concrete benefits for the population.
The approval of these budgets represents an important step for the regional government, marking a clear direction towards strengthening public services.
