Bus and bike lanes have become a problem for taxi drivers

Although the construction of bus lanes and bicycle lanes in the capital has brought a lot of convenience to citizens, this issue has created a series of difficulties for taxi drivers. Thus, when working in the taxi service, cases of picking up and dropping off citizens at the designated place sometimes lead to fines for drivers.

According to Khazarkhabar.az, taxi driver Ali Valiyev successfully passed the exam. Since 2020, he has been dedicated to the legal taxi activity. However, since there are no taxi ranks in most places, he was fined 300 manats this month:

In this regard, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) told “Khazar Khabar” that there are currently more than 130 taxi ranks on various streets and avenues in Baku. However, since most existing taxi ranks are not organized into attraction points, they sometimes even create obstacles to traffic. Therefore, a complex approach is currently being applied to the problem. At the same time, work is being carried out aimed at eliminating points that hinder traffic circulation, as well as identifying new points of attraction. It is planned to organize new attraction points mainly around universities, shopping centers, transport interchange centers, as well as on alternative roads near bus lanes.
