Devastating flooding caused by powerful Storm Burt has forced mass evacuations in Wales, with cars flooded and streets submerged. The sun reports this.

A state of emergency has been declared in several areas of South Wales due to severe flooding.

Flooding has been reported in several towns including Pontypridd, Ebbw Vale and Aberdare, while more than 100 warnings are in force. A footbridge over the River Taff, which was being repaired, was washed away. It suffered significant damage during Storm Dennis in 2020 and was being restored.

The railway line in Sinon Valley is under water and the Kumbah railway station is completely flooded.

There has been “shocking devastation caused by another landslide” in Kimmer, South Wales. The day before, five children and five adults had to be rescued from a similar natural disaster. “Fortunately, all ten people were rescued from the house in North Wales,” the newspaper notes.

“The flooding in the Rhondda and Ogmore areas is unprecedented. “I’ve never seen it on this scale before.” said the Member of Parliament for Rhondda and Ogmore Chris Bryant.

Earlier, Britons were warned that “the worst is yet to come” after Storm Burt hit at 82mph.

“Gusts of up to 112 km/h will hit coastal areas again on Sunday, and melting snow and heavy rain will cause flooding across the country.” – the publication reported.
