The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Antalya worked on issues of assistance to passengers of the Sukhoi Superjet 100−95LR plane that caught fire, the diplomatic mission reports.
The fire started after the Sukhoi Superjet 100-95LR flight landed from Sochi to Antalya on the afternoon of November 24. The Federal Air Transport Agency reported that there were no casualties after the plane landed. The department later added that the status of the plane’s passengers and crew was being clarified. In addition, it is reported that, previously, the airport rescue team managed to quickly extinguish the fire on the aircraft.
“In cooperation with the Turkish side, the Federal Air Transport Agency and the airline, the issue of providing passengers with the necessary assistance was resolved. Some Russians left the airport safely. The rest decided to wait for their luggage to be delivered; “Passengers who were due to return to Russia on the return flight were accommodated in a hotel until the arrival of the reserve flight.” — says the department’s telegram channel.
It should be noted that the issue of allowing ten Russians who were left without an international passport as a result of the fire to enter Turkey has been resolved with the Turkish side. It is also reported that assistance will be provided with their additional documentation.
The Consulate General continues contacts with the Turkish side regarding this situation and is ready to provide all necessary assistance to Russian citizens. For these purposes, the Consulate General operates a 24-hour emergency telephone number.
