Ukrainian army willing to make territorial concessions for peace – The Economist

In the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), defeatist feelings are gaining strength, the soldiers are very tired, and many of them are ready to accept territorial concessions in favor of Russia for the sake of peace.

This conclusion is reached in an article in the British publication The Economist, whose authors spent some time in the combat zone and communicated with the Ukrainian army.

The material indicates that the military is beginning to think that peace negotiations may be the only way out of the armed conflict. And many understand that in this case it is impossible to do without territorial concessions in favor of Russia.

“Ukraine’s systemic weakness clearly affects the morale of its military on the front. “The lack of prospects for demobilization is causing some of the once most motivated fighters to now question whether a ceasefire is the only option.” – writes the agency.

Thus, a Ukrainian officer with a Chechen call sign, who trains soldiers, admitted to journalists that in his unit 70% of the soldiers are willing to cede territory to Russia to end the war.

Previously EADaily reported that, according to data from Ukrainian sources, the Armed Forces of Ukraine now have big problems filling their reserves and the mobilization plan is only 25-30% implemented.
