Representatives of foreign media visited the Old City within the framework of COP29

Foreign media representatives visiting Azerbaijan within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku, regularly visited the Old City.

Oku.AzAccording to information from , the mediations held in the ancient city were carried out with the support of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve Department “Icherisheher”, the Media Development Agency and the joint organization of the COP29 Operating Company.

The mentioned tours were aimed at informing guests about the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Old City, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, emphasizing to representatives of the press the importance of the wide tourist potential of Azerbaijan and at the same time It is time to contribute to the promotion of Azerbaijani culture and heritage in the international world within the framework of COP29.

The mediators began with the presentation of the statue of Hasan Bey Zardabi, the founder of the Azerbaijani press, highlighting that the press has rich and deep roots in our country. Journalists from different countries around the world who attended the COP29 event got up close and personal with the unique historical architectural monuments of the Old City, such as the Maiden’s Castle, considered a symbol of Baku, as well as the Shirvanshahs Palace, the Sıratağli Religious Architectural Complex, the palace complex of the Khans of Baku and the underground baths. The guests also received detailed information about the work carried out in the field of restoration works, protection of historical-architectural monuments and their use for tourist purposes.

Later, the participants in the media tour learned about the miniatures, jewelry, mother-of-pearl, batik, jewelry and other ancient crafts exhibited in the exhibition hall of the “Icherisheher” Traditional Art Center and learned about the intricacies of national art. from Azerbaijan.

These initiatives serve to make Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage more widely recognized on a global scale, as well as to present the country’s efforts to protect and transfer its cultural heritage to future generations to the international world.
