The so-called silver economy or “Silver Economy”, linked to the elderly, their active aging, their care and their needs, already represents 26 percent of the national GDP (Gross Domestic Product). A figure which, taking into account the current age pyramid, will grow in the years to come. Precisely to talk about this sector, the challenges it poses and the opportunities it can generate in the environment, it takes place in Zamora the VI “Silver Economy” Congress from November 28 to 30.
A meeting, organized by the Provincial Council, for which they registered 2,000 people and in which they will participate 60 subject matter experts. From the socio-health field, that of innovative solutions, to technological entrepreneurship, including legal protection and communication, now essential aspects will be addressed in this forum, such as “the scientific advances which contribute to extending life expectancy and quality of life, the socio-economic impact of aging, the oentrepreneurship and job opportunities» or the fight against unwanted solitude, detailed with the provincial institution.
It will also be a forum for sharing good practices and experiences promote entrepreneurship and job creation linked to aging. Thus, in Castile and León, according to a recent study by the Economic and Social Council, the consumption of people over 50 last year exceeded 13.6 billion euros, generating almost half a million jobs.
The congress is organized around 12 presentations and work tables, in which companies in the field of telemedicine or the development of intelligent solutions for the care of the elderly, universities and research centers from different regions of Spain, Portugal or Italy will participate. Scientists and professionals will also be present, such as Maria Blasco Marhuenda (Director of the National Cancer Research Center) or Maria José Burgos Monge (Delegated Attorney for Civil Litigation and Protection of Disabled and Elderly People of the Community of Castilla y León).
Awards
The 2,000 registered mainly come from different parts of the national territory, but also from other countries such as Portugal, United States, Brazil or Algeria. They will be able to follow the congress in person or electronically thanks to the streaming signal that the Provincial Council will offer from the congress website.
Activities have been expanded with “on-site” training spaces on the most innovative technological models of care and the work presented in this 6th edition of the congressional awardswhich the Caja Rural Foundation sponsors with a total of 12,000 euros for these distinctions.
