In recent hours the Canary Islands have received 178 migrants, including six childrenon board three boats while in the waters near the islands of Tenerife and El Hierro.
Maritime Rescue rescued the occupants of three boats located in waters near the coast. The first of the rescues took place around 6 p.m. this Saturday, an alert was given concerning a canoe, the Helimer 201 helicopter was therefore mobilized to locate it, as well as the Alpheratz sea rescue services and the ships were notified.
The helicopter located the boat, which was transferred to the port of Los Cristianos, in Arona (Tenerife), where they disembarked. 54 people of North African origin, all men except two women and two minors.
The second rescue took place around 6:15 p.m., when the Civil Guard informed the Tenerife Maritime Rescue Center of an echo that could be that of a cayuco about 13 kilometers (7 nautical miles) from La Restinga, at El Pinar (El Hierro).
The Acrux sea rescue team found the boat and escorted it to port, helped by the Red Cross boat Mike 02. In this case, they landed 44 people of sub-Saharan origin, including 35 men, seven women and two children.
The last rescue took place around 4 a.m., when there was a warning of an echo, which could be that of a canoe about 18 kilometers (10 nautical miles) from La Restinga. The Adhara maritime emergency services were mobilized, they located the canoe, which was without an engine, and therefore proceeded to rescue the boats. 80 people who were on board, all sub-Saharan, and among whom were 70 men, eight women and two children.
