The Roca de Illescas team opened an investigation with the Operation “Paladiux” Last September, after an increase in complaints in which the injured denounced the theft of the catalytic converter from their vehicles, investigators managed to identify two vehicles used by the suspects and to locate the house where they lived.

Continuing the investigations, the agents implemented various surveillance and control devices, which bore fruit at the end of October in one of these controls in the city of Yepes (Toledo), supported by citizen security patrols of this town and Ocaña. they arrested these two people. After an exhaustive search of the vehicle, a double bottom was detected under the front seats, locating four catalysts and two chain pipe cutters and two other catalysts were hidden in the engine part.

These parts had been stolen the same night from several vehicles in villages in the province of Cuenca. It should be noted that this type of automobile parts is made up of different types of metals of great economic value, costing between 800 and 2,000 euros on the second-hand market.

The alleged perpetrators stole the catalysts at night, traveling each night to commit crimes in different regions of the province of Toledo, visiting several of its municipalities and selecting target vehicles to steal the catalyst, using chain pipe cutters to cutting, then hiding. in a double bottom of the vehicle used and makes it difficult for security forces to locate them in the event of identification.
