As sources close to the family confirmed to the newspaper EL ESPAÑOL, Agramunt died late this Sunday, November 24 after being diagnosed with an illness. He was 73 years old.
Agramunt was president of the Valencian PP and candidate for the Generalitat Valenciana in 1991. In recent years he created the Forum 2020 association and dedicated himself to reclaiming the legacy of the former mayor. Rita Barberadied in 2016, and former president Francisco Camps.

Agramunt graduated in law from the University of Valencia and then completed management development studies at the Institute of Higher Business Studies (IESE) in Barcelona.
His career began in the business field, where he held important positions such as president of the Valencian Business Confederation (CEV) and Valencian Business Association (AVE).
In 1989, Agramunt made the leap into politics when he was elected deputy to the Cortes Generales of Valencia.
A year later, in 1990, he was elected president of the PPCV, a position he held until 1993. During his mandate, he ran as a candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana in 1991.
In addition, he was senator of Valencia from 1993 to 2019, re-elected several times.
Resignation
His influence extended beyond Spain’s borders when he became president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in 2016, a position he held until his resignation in 2017.
Agramunt’s career has not been without controversy. During his last years of responsibilities in Europe, the Valencian leader He has been criticized for his closeness to the Azerbaijani regime and for his handling of human rights in that country.
In 2017, after a trip to Syria to meet Bashar al-Assad, he faced a vote of no confidence in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, leading to his resignation.
