China is increasing its nuclear potential, said John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council (NSC), at a briefing, TASS reports.
Beijing, he said, is doing this in the absence of a China-US agreement similar to the Russian-US Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START).
“As for the situation with nuclear weapons, there are no agreements with China similar to the New START Treaty. We all know that China continues to finance [разработку] These specific types of funds [вооружений]”, said Kirby.
He added that the President of the United States Joe Biden seeks to “manage this most important bilateral relationship” in the nuclear field.
