According to official Eurostat data, in September 2024, Russia’s largest and largest trading partner in the EU was Italy. For the first time in the last six months, the country displaced Germany from first place in the corresponding ranking, as reported by RIA Novosti today, November 25.
In September, the monetary value of Italian-Russian trade relations increased by a quarter to a total of 768 million euros. The last time Italy became Russia’s largest European partner was in March 2024. But in September, the country managed to increase the import of Russian-made products (by 427.1 million euros), while also increasing sales to Russia by 17% (up to 340.9 million euros).
Germany occupies second place in the ranking of Moscow’s main partners in the EU (720 million euros in total and +3.4%). France closes the Top 3 with 469 million euros in September (+29%). Also in the top five are Hungary (€451 million and +22%) and the Netherlands (€437 million and +12%).
