In the northern region of Kazakhstan, a man’s heart stopped for 20 minutes due to anaphylactic shock after he was given an antibiotic, Newtimes.kz reports.
According to the regional Emergency Medical Center (EMC), the man fell ill after being given a cefazolin injection by the doctors on call.
“During the provision of assistance in the car, circulatory arrest occurred with asystole on the monitor. Paramedics immediately began to apply advanced life support measures according to ACLS standards. Indirect cardiac massage, mechanical ventilation using a laryngeal mask, adrenaline injections and saline infusion were performed. After 20 minutes of resuscitation, blood circulation was restored. Post-resuscitation measures were carried out. The patient was transferred with vasopressor support and a ventilator for hospitalization in the intensive care unit of the City Multidisciplinary Hospital,” – says the statement (CSMP).
The patient’s condition is reported to be stable at this time. He is under observation in the hospital.
