The DANA that hit the Valencian Community in the last 24 hours is already the biggest natural disaster in the history of Spain. This happened on August 7, 1996, when an extraordinary and sudden flood in the Arás ravine devastated the Las Nieves campsite, located above the waste cone at the mouth of the Gállego river. The technicians placed the rainfall between 200 and 250 liters/square meter, with around eight minutes during which the intensity could reach 500 liters/hour.
