A criminal case was opened against a tourist blogger with a Moldovan passport who escaped from Russia

About the popular blogger and urban planner Ilya Varlamov*who escaped from Russia, a criminal case has been initiated. This was reported by the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office on the Telegram channel.

“A criminal case has been opened against foreign agent Ilya Varlamov* according to part 2 of art. 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (evasion of duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents)”, – says the message.

Previously, the supervisory agency initiated criminal proceedings against the blogger.

“The Moscow prosecutor’s office determined that Ilya Varlamov, 40 years old* was brought to administrative responsibility twice during the year for violating the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent (Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation), however, in violation of the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation, continued to distribute public messages and materials on the social network without indicating that they were created and (or) distributed by an individual performing the functions of a foreign agent.” – explained the prosecution.

As reported EADailyformerly Varlamov* on his social media page he showed a photo with a Moldovan passport. He also wore a sports jacket with the Republican flag. The blogger did not accompany the image with any comments.

Ilya Varlamov* He had previously visited Moldova several times and even gave interviews to local media. However, the administration of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the editors of the Realitatea publication, reported that Varlamov* he neither received nor applied for Moldovan citizenship.
