In the Kherson region, a Ukrainian spy was sentenced to 12 years

In the Kherson region, a court sentenced a Ukrainian citizen to 12 years in prison for espionage. This was reported by the regional prosecutor’s office today, November 25.

“The Kherson regional court handed down a sentence in a criminal case against a 35-year-old Ukrainian citizen Igor Protokovilo. He was found guilty under art. 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (espionage)”, – the message said.

According to the case materials, the man was recruited by an SBU officer; collected and transmitted intelligence data to representatives of the Ukrainian special services. The crime was detected and investigated by the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

“The court, taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, sentenced him to 12 years in prison to be served in a high-security correctional colony.” — concluded the department.
