The press service of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan denied information about the decision to block Gazprombank’s UnionPay cards in the republic. All problems, the regulator clarified, are of external origin. RIA Novosti reports on this today, November 25.
EADaily remember that in recent days on social networks many users of Russian bank cards have complained about the impossibility of withdrawing cash from Uzbek ATMs.
“The Central Bank and national banks did not block the operation of UnionPay cards. We believe that more detailed information can be obtained from UnionPay representatives.” – reported the regulator.
Gazprombank was accredited in Uzbekistan in January 2022. It does not work with individuals in the country. Last week, the United States imposed sanctions against the bank and its foreign subsidiaries, after which Gazprombank was disconnected from the UnionPay payment system.
