Two American diplomats visit Israel
Amos Hochstein and Brett McGurk, US envoy to Lebanon, and Brett McGurk, White House Middle East adviser, visit Israel on Wednesday “to discuss issues such as a diplomatic resolution in Lebanon, as well as ways to end the conflict in Gaza”State Department spokesman Matthew Miller announced to the press.
The United States wants “a diplomatic solution that allows civilians, both in Lebanon and Israel, to return to their homes”stressed, insisting on the fact that Washington is putting pressure on the Jewish state to avoid inflicting “considerable damage” in Lebanon. “We have made it clear that the campaign they are carrying out in Lebanon should not and cannot resemble the one they carried out in Gaza. »
Matthew Miller also expressed the United States’ disappointment at Israel’s lack of response to its concerns about the bombings in the Gaza Strip, particularly in Beit Lahya, where 93 people were killed on Tuesday, according to emergency services.
“We still don’t have an explanation. They told us what they had said publicly, that they were investigating the matter, and we pressed them for a response. “They are not doing enough to give us the answers we have asked for.”he lamented.
